I’ve long been inspired by the myths and legends of the Green Man which are present within the Celtic tradition. Sometimes, when I walk in the local woods with my dogs I can feel his presence. It is as if I walk into a special atmosphere, one which encompasses so much more than just the physical landscape. A place that I call the Sacred Land. His presence is very real, he is intertwined with the trees, animals, streams, breeze…Over the years, after I first encountered him, he has generously led me deeper and deeper into his world. It is a world of awe and sacredness. After so many years of his guidance, I felt ready as well as compelled to paint him, honouring the Celtic art tradition as well.
